Super! Perhaps I'll just
cancel all my intended snail mail correspondence. Nice to read
Betty's response about Galena, Ill., which is only two hours south
of where I was born. My great grandfather Christian settled in La
Crosse where he is buried, with German language on the tombstone. I
am Dan and I am the last born of seven siblings. Now, I am 33 years
old and live in Montana, and will have a chance to visit with you
all. Why not? I drive a semi and just was in SF, but didn't think to
visit Marco. But, Reto Bonadurer, who lives in Zurich, came to visit
me here and later my siblings in St.Paul and La Crosse. So, why not?
Reto is the son of Johann and grandson of Peter, all who remained in
Switzerland. After I gather up some nice black and whites and
coordinate with my siblings, I will have a nice addition to this
story to present to you. Right now I am drinking Schweizer Kirsch,
brought by Reto and his friend Gerold from Switzerland. It is a hard
taste to acquire. One thing I wonder is why there is little
correspodence, at least of what I know from my great grandfather,
between he and his other siblings and those who remained in
Switzerland. Are there any real old letters? This is all so
interesting! Long ago, c. 1986, pre Internet, I located Reto in the
Zurich phone book. It is from that point that I began to learn so
much more about my family, for my father and his sister have now
passed away, not to mention all those before them.
Greetings to an. Jus,
Dan
