About myself.

As the second child alongside my brother Peter, I was born on November 19, 1949, in Glarus. I grew up there, attended school, and completed an apprenticeship as an electromechanic. At age 22, I moved to Bern, where I continued my professional education to become a technical merchant.

At Hasler AG in Bern, I started my first sales position. At PTT and BIGA (SECO), I helped set up the 111 telephone service and the intercantonal job placement system AVAM. Afterward, I was drawn back to the private sector — Olivetti, Excom, Dell Computer, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Distrelec, Nextink, and McAfee (Intel) were interesting milestones in a long IT career.

After 33 years in the beautiful farming village of Hettiswil near Hindelbank, I moved closer to home and have lived in 8722 Kaltbrunn since November 2012. I have two daughters, Nicole (1977) and Nadja (1980), who both live in Bern. My brother Peter and my mother passed away in 2011 and found their final resting place in the cemetery in Zillis (Graubünden).

I simply collapsed without warning — my heart had stopped beating. Thanks to my tennis friends, I was resuscitated immediately; the defibrillator needed one more shock. By REGA to St. Gallen, then to the University Hospital Zurich (3 bypasses). Rehab in Davos — and back home. Sincere thanks to Peter, Armin, Ernst, Heidi, and Adrian — you gave me a second life.
